03 Education for Sustainability

Education and Informed Decision-making.
Fundamentally, this is what it’s all about. Without the knowledge, the information, necessary to decide to act otherwise, to act in favour of sustainability, to act ‘planet-wise’, all other efforts are futile.

Why legislate if no-one cares because knows really why they should care?

Why finance if no-one on the other end knows what role the innovation/technology/product/service plays in the greater scheme of things?

Why do anything if no-one understands their role in the greater scheme of things?

Sustainability education cuts across social, economic and environmental sustainability. Education is at the core of a widespread awareness of our environmental impacts, and what lifestyle changes we can begin to make.

Part of the Problem? or Part of the Solution?

Rampant consumerism.
Widespread unsustainable lifestyles.
Unsustainable business practices.
Damaging and unsustainable travel and transport.
Extensive environmental degradation and biodiversity loss.
...
These are some of the problems we face.
...
Energy crisis.
Financial crisis.
Uneducated and un-empowered.
Environmental damage.
Food and water shortage.
Climate change.
...
Are you part of the problem,
Or are you part of the solution?
